  • Welcome

My name is April Williams and I am based in the North Dallas, Texas area...Go COWBOYS! Yes, I am a die-hard Cowboys fan. I have 3 wonderful children and a sweet husband. I have had a passion for photography for most of my life and have thoroughly enjoyed it as a profession.  It has been so fulfilling to work with my clients and truly being able to Capture Today's Moments for Tomorrow's Memories.

I love being able to capture the various personalities that I am privileged to work with. My style is to capture your heart when you sit down to view your gallery. I am very relaxed on a shoot capturing not only a few posed images, but mostly candid, fun images.

I would love for you to leave me a comment as every photographer thrives on hearing about their work. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to working with you.

Lauren – Graduating Senior 2011

I had the privilege of photographing this beautiful girl, Lauren this past week at The Stonebriar Country Club. Lauren is certainly as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. There is nothing more precious than seeing a beautiful heart from a graduating Senior. She was such a pleasure to work with.

Lauren loves to play tennis…so we had to capture some shots on the court. She may look really sweet, but I’m guessing you get her on the court and the sweet smile turns to Miss Competitive!

Lauren, have a wonderful Senior year and make the most of it. You are a wonderful girl….always keep your heart on Christ my friend!

Chandler….Graduating Senior 2011

Another handsome High School Senior…were the boys this cute when I was in high school? Just kidding guys…I’m sure you all were. But I have to say that the Senior guys I have photographed the past few weeks have all been handsome young men. And they have all had beautiful eyes. See, I can say these things now that I’m getting so old.

Chandler wasn’t too thrilled to wake up so early to do pictures. I mean come on…it’s summer, it was 8am when we met, it’s August and it’s hot…not to mention taking pictures is for the girls! BUT….I think he would admit that the shoot wasn’t that bad. He might have even had a little fun with it before it was all over. And we all know that the girls at his school are going to want a picture of him.

During our 2 hour shoot, I learned that Chandler loves ice hockey. He played for several years….so we talked up the hockey thing….that seemed to help him forget that a camera was in his face for 2 hours. With that, you can see that his personality came out and we were able to get so many great shots of him. He has a great smile and like I said….pretty eyes. I can’t wait to show his mom the rest of his gallery, but for now, these are a few of my favs!

Preston….Graduating Senior 2011

Here is a sneak peek at Preston’s Senior pictures. Preston came to me by referral from Jake…so thank you Jake for spreading the word.

I must say that Preston’s Senior photoshoot was very unique and new ground for me. We began our shoot at Preston’s house on their beautiful property. Not too out of the ordinary for a shoot…however, our next destination was his fav sailboat! That’s right, I went on a sailboat for this shoot. Talk about fun! It was hotter than a mug outside, but the lake was so peaceful and was a great experience. I could have stayed out there all night to be honest with you. Preston has been sailing for a long time and is very much in his own element on the water. I love to get High School Seniors in their element and watch their personality start coming through.

Preston was fun to photograph. I am still dreading the day that having a High School Senior in my house becomes a reality! Thanks Preston for a great time and make your Senior year one to remember!

My sweet, sweet Grandma

I feel compelled to take a few minutes out of my crazy schedule to share a few words about my dear Grandma. If you have followed me on Facebook at all, you may have seen that she went into the hospital a few weeks ago as she was very ill. After being in the hospital for a week, her health took a huge turn south and things just progressively went downhill. My mom and I stayed in the hospital by her side for the last 6 days of her life. Watching life escape her body was definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. I am not even sure I can form the thoughts or the words to describe just how hard that time was….and yet in the same breath just how precious those remaining days with her were. The sweet look on her face during those days will be forever etched in my memory. Even when she could no longer speak, mom and I could feel her emotions from time to time….even to the point of wiping away a single tear that formed in her eye. I know that she was fighting death as she didn’t want to leave us here…but I also know that her body was so tired and it was time for her to go Home. Last Tuesday, I laid in the bed with her and just held her. We thought she was going then as her stats flat lined for a brief moment and her breaths were incredibly laborious. However, that was not quite her time. This time was given to me and mom to hold her, sing to her, talk to her and love on her one last time before she fell into a peaceful sleep with her heart rate stabilizing. She rested ever so peacefully that night. She passed away last Wed around 4:25pm. I’m so sad to say that that was the one time period that I was not there…I arrived shortly after she breathed her last breath. Though I know that I was not meant to be there, there is a pain in my heart.

There are truly no words to describe just how much she meant to me. My Grandmother played a huge role in my life while growing up. She was like a second mom to me. Growing up without a dad proved to have many challenges as most of you probably know….which is unfortunately more of you than should be. However, my G’ma and my mom shaped so much of who I am today. I’m not sure that my dear G’ma ever really knew just how much I loved her and just how much I learned in life from her. She was a rare breed for sure. She is definitely one of the most selfless people I have ever known. She never put herself first. She was known as a Proverbs 31 woman and her children and grandchildren will rise up and call her blessed.

The tears are now streaming down my face as I reflect upon her life. I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful G’ma in my life for so long. Here’s to passing this legacy to my mom in her having the same impact on my 3 kiddos as I know that they all love her just as much as I love my G’ma.

Here are the last “pro” pics that I did of her. These were taken in December of 2008. Here’s to honoring the most incredible G’ma in the world with a heart bigger than life. Thank you G’ma for the huge impact you had on my life and for the legacy you have left behind. We love you dearly and you will be so missed.

The Weekend Wedding Retreat with The Perfect Wedding Guide

The Perfect Wedding Guide has announced their participation in the Weekend Wedding Retreat hosted by Perfect Wedding Guide and our National Wedding Expert Susan Southerland!

The Weekend Wedding Retreat is a new and innovative concept in wedding planning. A select number of couples are invited to an overnight stay at The Sheraton Hotel and Spa in Fort Worth where they will enjoy interactive seminars, engagement photo sessions, spa treatments, and three catered meals, including a mock wedding reception complete with a cocktail hour, live entertainment and dinner.

Weekend Wedding Retreat

Seminar topics include but are not limited to: “The Susan Southerland Secret: Discover What Kind of Bride You Are”, What to Look for in a Photographer, a floral arranging session where couples create their own centerpieces, a cake tasting, signature drink mixing, tuxedo fittings, an invitation and wedding stationary lecture, and a comprehensive site tour. Seminars are conducted by participating vendors and Susan Southerland.

The unique concept behind the Retreat is that couples get to spend one-on-one time with participating vendors, giving couples the opportunity to really get to know the vendors in a way that traditional marketing avenues don’t allow. This does not entail a heavy-handed sales pitch. Rather, it is up to the vendors to get to know the participants, position their company as a leading expert, and, through relationship-building, eventually book the business.

Susan: Why do you like working with brides?

April: I remember on my wedding day just wanting to feel relaxed, non-stressed, and have fun. I wanted to have a day that I would always remember and I knew one way to keep the memories was to have a good…no GREAT…photographer. I knew at the end of the day, my flowers would fade, my dress would sit in my closet, the food would be gone, and all I would have left would be my wedding album. I love looking through my album as it still floods my heart with those special moments from that day. I love doing the same for my Brides. I know that they are planning their Dream wedding, spending the most money on this one single day in their life than any other…they deserve to remember every single moment. They need to remember every single smile and laugh; every tear and every hug; every kiss and every warm moment.

Susan: What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

April: It’s a little bit hard to nail down just one part of the day that’s my favorite. It’s so fun to see the excitement in the Bridal room while the girls are giddy while getting ready or in the groom’s room where they are trying to act “cool”, but you can see some of the nervous excitement come through. Watching the little flower girls and the ring bearers is always a treat and always brings a smile to my face. During the reception, it is refreshing to see the freedom in the room as the guests celebrate the marriage of 2 people that they love. I have to be honest, the Daddy/Daughter dance seems to always cause me to bite back a tear. But I would have to say that my very favorite part of the day is watching the Groom’s face as he watches his Bride walk down the aisle seeing her for the first time that day. He is watching his future walk toward him and the first glance they share, that first look is one that can never be reproduced. It is one moment that I want my Bride and Groom to remember for the rest of their lives together.

Susan: What inspired you to become a photographer?

April: I have always loved pictures and taking pictures. I was always the person that would show up at events with my camera from the time I was in junior high. It has always been such a passion. To me, there is such value in pictures. They are the memories of your life that you can share with new friends and old friends, but more importantly the generations that follow you. There is nothing like looking through pictures that spark the emotion that you felt at the moment the image was taken.

However, the moment that I knew I wanted to be a professional photographer was several years ago. I was taking pictures of one of my friend’s two boys. Her oldest son is a special needs blessing. I wasn’t posing them, I was just taking candid shots of them together and we captured a moment when he leaned over and kissed the forehead of his little brother. To this day, a 20×24 of this image hangs in her house. Every time I am at her house and I see the picture, I am reminded that a picture truly is worth a thousand words. There is no greater feeling than knowing that that image grabs a mother’s heart each and every time she stops to look at it.

Susan: What is the most rewarding part about being a photographer?

April: Watching the face on the Bride and Groom when they view their wedding photos, knowing that the world around them has faded as they were taken back to their special day. It is so rewarding to have the ability to truly capture someone’s personality, a hidden tear, a genuine laugh, or a tender look. I am so often caught up in the emotion right along side my clients. The most rewarding part is that I know they will have these captured moments for the rest of their lives.

Susan: What is your philosophy for the wedding day?

April: I believe that your wedding day should be filled with joy and happiness…but that does sound a little like a cliche doesn’t it? We all know that your wedding day didn’t come without many hours of preparation and planning and not to mention money being spent! Most every Bride has a dream wedding planned out in her head and let’s be honest, we Brides want it all to go down without a hitch. Reality sometimes sets in to find that there may be a small glitch or two. We hold to the philosophy that it is our job to do everything we can to keep the Bride calm and peaceful. We stage very few shots, we just let nature take it’s course. Our goal is to see the moments that mark the day and get those moments on camera. We want our Brides to remember their day and truly enjoy the day. Therefore, we are unobtrusive in our style, yet readily available when the Bride needs us.

The Weekend Wedding Retreat, Dallas is going to be filled with great planning tips, new friendships, great discounts and lots of surprises. (One not-so-well-kept-secret is that all couples who attend will get a free engagement session during the Retreat with April!)
